Prakriti carries multi-media approach for environmental education which includes panel exhibition, interactive models, films and slide shows, games and activities and few take away communication material such as posters, wallpapers, brochures etc. The bus broadly focuses on five thematic areas namely; Land, Water, Energy, Biodiversity and Climate Change. Furthermore, the recently launched CEE project “Paryavaran Mitra” in which the schools are supposed to take action based projects on themes similar to the ones promoted by Prakriti would help follow up on the projects in schools. It is an active continuation of the topics explained during the Prakriti visit.
In 2010, the team conducted 120 visits in more that 86 schools and villages in 3 different districts and reached around 16000 students, teachers, and other visitors. Nature Club Surat, Gram Vikas Trust and Vikas Centre for Development were the local partners for activities in Surat and Bharuch respectively.
Prakriti has been a success and the team got a great and satisfying response and feedback from all the sides. Due to the fact that the team visited schools, the word about environmental issues will be spread by the youngest- the generation of tomorrow. The Prakriti team is hopeful that they have created some change agents who will combat challenges for a greener tomorrow.
The team looks forward for school and college participation. Interested institutions can contact Centre for Environment Education (CEE) for details of programme at 079-26844788, 89 or write to us at sayen@ceeindia.org
