SAYEN launched its first sub-regional project SARI/Energy - Involving Youth in Water conservation for Energy Conservation, in 2003. It was conducted by CEE in India and Sri Lanka Environment Exploration Society (SLEES) in Sri Lanka.
Supported by USAID and managed by Winrock International and Winrock International India, this project involved youth from various institutions/associations/groups in the respective countries to document a best practice in the form of a case study on water conservation for energy conservation on a local basis. It includes a case study on initiatives taken by individuals/ groups/ NGOs/ institutions related to either one or more of the following sectors; agriculture, domestic, industry, institution, culture, city/ village managers. The case studies were studied by SAYEN members and other associates in the two countries. The detailed process of the final compilation of best studies attempt to show examples of innovativeness to people in relevant sectors, to replicate these practises and approaches, for economic upliftment in their community.
