Social Media Campaign for Biodiversity Conservation

About the Initiative
This is  an initiative of  the Centre for Environment Education (CEE) with the support from  the National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) and Ministry of  Environment , Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC)  in partnership with the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (UNCBD).
The aim of this initiative is to  address  the prospects of social media in promoting biodiversity conservation among  larger sections of society, essentially  involving  youth,  offering them  an exciting opportunity to be a part of the biodiversity conservation campaign.

Campaign Ideas
The ideas presented here  are developed during  the National Workshop on The Use of Social Media in Biodiversity Conservation organized by the Centre for Environment Education (CEE) at Bangalore ( February 26 - 28) and Lucknow (March 2 -4) , 2015 .

More than 75 youth - students and professionals - from across India - from 20 states including neighbouring Nepal who participated in the workshop, decided to put their acts together in support of national and global efforts towards Biodiversity \ Conservation. They plan to implement 22 awareness campaigns related to biodiversity conservation, individually and /or in groups and test the feasibility and efficiency of these projects for next three months before scaling them up. They have decided to dedicate at least 30% of their social media time that they give on an average per day to this cause.

Be a part of  the Conservation Campaign
Widen and strengthen this group of young nature enthusiasts and conservationists by joining hands with their projects, giving ideas, participating in lively discussions.
