About the college

Government Science College , Valod is situated in tribal area of Gujarat . It is the only college in South Gujarat that offers courses related to electronics and computer science. The campus is spread over an area of around 10 acres. In the present era, where mostly we hear about water crisis, this college is blessed with a water table at 15-20 feet below the ground level.

The college was started in 1989 and from 2009, a new course BCA has also been started. It is affiliated to Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU). The students come to college from villages located in and around Valod. Even though college has a hostel, the students prefer to be day scholars as the location of the college is in an isolated area away from the town. It is found that the drop out ratio is less in the college.

The college is situated in an area from where one can see the river “Valmiki” flowing behind the college and also sugarcane fields adjacent to the college. As most of the farmers go for sugarcane cultivation, one can find sugar factories located at 8-10 kms away from the college. As per the college view, they don't find much industrial pollution as no big industries are present around the campus.
