SAYEN Members
TO DOWNLOAD THE SAYEN MEMBERSHIP FORM PLEASE CLICK

Only organizations are eligible to become SAYEN members. For memberships, organizations need to fill up the SAYEN membership form, and send to their country National Focal Point (NFP).

Organizations falling under one of the following four types could be awarded SAYEN membership.

Type 1: Organizations working in the field of environment and youth
Type 2: Organizations working in the field of environment and plan to
undertake projects/ activities involving youth in future

Type 3: Youth Groups working in the field of environment

Type 4: Youth Groups in future planning to undertake projects/programmes on
environment

Eligibility

  1. The organization should be dedicated to sustainable development and have sufficient experience in working with youth and/or sustainable development related issues.
  2. The organization should have a proven experience in working with youth and/or environmental issues
  3. The organization should agree to the vision, mission, and objectives and should be willing to undertake activities as finalized by the NFP.
  4. The organization should not have any political or religious affiliation.
  5. Institutions which are receiving grant from government could be SAYEN members.
  6. Industry/ corporate bodies falling under the first four types, dedicated to sustainable development, and agreeing with the SAYEN vision, mission and objectives could become SAYEN member.
  7. Government agency cannot be a SAYEN member, as there is a separate category for their association.

Membership Withdrawal

Members could withdraw from the membership with a 3 months notice letter submitted to NFP. In this case, NFP should also communicate this to UNEP RRC.AP and the SAYEN Secretariat.

Membership Termination

Members, if not following SAYEN obligations (mentioned later), could be terminated from SAYEN membership. Decision of terminating membership should be initiated by the NFP of the respective country, who should also communicate about their decision before termination to all NFPs, UNEP RRC.AP and the SAYEN Secretariat with reasons for termination. Once, approved by all, the organization could be terminated.

SAYEN Associations: Obligations

  • Activities conducted under the banner of SAYEN and their outcomes should be related to sustainable development issues.
  • Financial support for conducting activities under the banner of SAYEN could be received only from those organizations, who promote sustainable development. Funding from member industry/ corporate bodies and Government would be most welcome. Funding from non-member industry/ corporate bodies could be accepted only if such bodies do not promote anything which hampers sustainable development.
  • Associated individuals or organizations should be non-political, non-religious and non-partisan in their approach and should not have any affiliations with any such organization.
  • All communication media and materials and correspondence done for activities conducted as a part of SAYEN network, should have SAYEN logo and standard information about SAYEN.
  • Activities conducted under the banner of SAYEN should be non-profit provided the profit if any is for the purpose of organising some other SAYEN activity.
  • Transparency has to be maintained while accessing fund for any activities of SAYEN and organization and individuals are accountable for the fund utilized during the activities.

SAYEN Associations: Rights

  • They will receive all general communication media and materials including SAYEN newsletter.
  • They will receive information about all major events organized in their respective country by the NFP. Also, they could be invited for such events.
  • For jointly organized events, logo of the member/ partner/ Government Agency could be included on the banner and other communication media and materials, along with the logo of SAYEN, respective NFP and UNEP RRC.AP. Final decision regarding this would be taken by the respective NFP depending upon the associations.

Maintaining SAYEN Associations database

Information about all the four categories to be sent by the NFPs to UNEP RRC.AP and SAYEN Secretariat, who would maintain a Central Data Bank of all organizations and individuals. This data bank would also be uploaded on the SAYEN Website.

SAYEN Partner Organizations

Organizations/ Networks who would like to get associated with SAYEN activities, but may not want or are not eligible to be a member could be invited to join as SAYEN Partner. The decision for awarding partnership could be taken by any NFP or SAYEN Secretariat or UNEP RRC.AP. Upon identification of such organizations, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) could be signed between the respective NFP or the SAYEN Secretarial or UNEP RRC.AP and the partner organization. Decision on the should be communication to all NFPs, SAYEN Secretariat and UNEP RRC.AP.

Eligibility:

1. Partnership would be granted to only those organizations which are dedicated to Sustainable Development

2. Institutions which are receiving grant from government could be SAYEN partner.

3. Industry/ corporate dedicated to sustainable development and agreeing with the SAYEN vision, mission and objectives could become SAYEN partner.

SAYEN Associates

Individuals who are interested in working for sustainable development or are involved in sustainable development related activities could be invited to join as SAYEN Associates. Depending upon their role, associates could be of following two types:

Type 1: Individuals having experience of working on sustainable development in the South Asia
Region. Role of such associates would be advisory.

Type 2: Individual youth who would like to undertake activities related to sustainable development
in the region.

Decision for awarding SAYEN associates could be taken by any NFP or SAYEN Secretariat or UNEP RRC.AP. Upon identification of individuals who could be awarded SAYEN associates, an invitation letter regarding the same could be sent by the respective NFP or the SAYEN Secretariat or UNEP RRC.AP. Decision on this should be communicated to all NFPs, SAYEN Secretariat and UNEP RRC.AP.

Eligibility

1. Individuals who are dedicated to Sustainable Development can be invited to join as SAYEN associates.

2. Government employees if interested could be SAYEN associates.

Associates Withdrawal

Individuals could withdraw as SAYEN associates with a 3 months notice letter submitted to NFP. In this case, NFP should also communicate this to UNEP RRC.AP and the SAYEN Secretariat
